Kira Cohen, Counseling Intern

Hello everyone!

I attended Goldey-Beacom College where I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology

degree. I am currently in the process of completing a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at the same school.

I understand that everyone’s background is different, and therefore, we experience and

handle situations differently. This is why I value cultural competency. While I don’t know

everything about every single culture in the world, I understand the simple fact that everyone’s culture is different. I look forward to gaining insight from my clients to best understand their lives and their backgrounds. I believe there is beauty in every culture including race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. The intersectionality of these categories of identity can be challenging to deal with on top of mental health. As a multiracial woman who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, I look forward to being the comfort and representation for women and girls like me! I am here to

listen to you, understand you, and help you become your best self!

Personal details:

I was a student athlete for the majority of my life. I played club soccer and semipro

soccer until I played Division II soccer in the NCAA league at Goldey-Beacom College.

Outside of the office I enjoy: going to the gym, hiking, running, long walks, listening to music, watching movies, exploring new places, thrifting, video games, and most importantly - spending time with my friends and family!
